Wingard, after 17 years of diabetes, kidney failure, 3 totaled cars, and 39,000 insulin injections, was told to write his will and last testament. On September 11, 2001, he was placed on the nation’s kidney and pancreas transplant lists. He prepared for what was to come and went to work on his music.
